Meet Our Overseer

Harvey Gene Anders was born in Fries, Virginia on August 13, 1954. He is the son of “Shorty” and Eather Anders and the sibling to five brothers and three sisters. His training for the ministry began in his parents’ home as his Father was a pastor as well as helped build multiple churches. Throughout the years Harvey and several of his family members began to travel and sing at different churches and organized their group as “The Young Believers”. In 1980 Harvey and Cindy were married and she also traveled and sang as a member of “The Young Believers”. They had three children during this time; Elizabeth, Joshua, and Amy.

In 1992 Harvey was called into the ministry at his local church in Reidsville, North Carolina with his brother, Allen Anders as the pastor. He began to feel the call to become a pastor so in 1994 God opened a door for him to step out and become an Associate Pastor at The Church of God in Colorado Springs, Colorado and then eventually became the pastor. He and his family stayed there for about two years and they headed back east to pastor a church in Hickory, North Carolina. In 1999, the Anders family moved to Virginia where they pastored a church in Catawba. All three children graduated high school in Virginia and eventually Elizabeth and Joshua both were married and moved to Decatur, Alabama to begin their families. During this time in 2005, by the request of the State Overseer, Harvey was set forth as a Bishop.

On August 1, 2009 another chapter began as they moved to Cleveland, Tennessee to pastor The Church of God, Zion Hill. This is currently where they reside today. In 2016 Harvey was appointed as State Overseer over the great state of Tennessee and is serving still as pastor of The Church of God, Zion and as the State Overseer over Tennessee. All three of their children are serving the Lord and working for Christ and His Church. Throughout the years God has been faithful as they have been obedient in following the will of the Lord.
